Sun Microsystems will screen its first TV advertisements in Europe later this month under its logo ?The Network Is The Computer? - the same slogan adopted by Digital Equipment some years ago.
The ads will be shown in the US, Europe and Asia and will envisage a world without Sun, aimed to generate awareness in the company and the impact its technology has made on the world.
In keeping with the philosophy of Sun chief executive Scott McNealy, the ads will not show Microsoft CEO Bill Gates in a good light, will profess the virtues of Java and will be full of puns. They will be backed by a print campaign in national and trade press highlighting the solutions it provides to clients. The first TV ad will appear in the US on 20 March.
