Platinum Technology has increased its information security products portfolio, with the acquisition of Israeli-based Memco Software for just over $400 million in shares.
Under the terms of the deal, which will see Platinum become one of the largest security software companies in the industry, Memco will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Platinum.
Memco's flagship software product, Seos (Security for Open Systems), provides access control security for Unix and Windows NT servers. It also addresses the single sign-on market, with its Proxima product suite, which automates user logins and centralises user account management.
