Applied Innovation is to integrate Cisco routers into its data communications range for telecomms carriers. In return, it has appointed Cisco to be worldwide distributor of its AI Switch line, which will now include the routers.
The deal will broaden AI's presence outside the US market. The Ohio company provides switches and other interoperability devices to link up large networks for carriers, network service providers or corporate sites.
Cisco's IOSTM internetworking software routing technology will be adopted by AI from early next year. The combination will offer "end-to-end operations support network solutions", claimed Cisco's vice president for service provider markets, Jon Shantz.
