New Year 1999 will see the debut of mini-notebooks from both Dell and Acer.
Both notebooks, demonstrated to only a select few customers at last week?s Comdex show in Las Vegas, are reported to be the most usable PCs in that form factor so far.
Acer is due to launch the Travelmate 313T in January along with an even lighter and thinner model by the middle of next year.
The mid-year release is expected to have a 14.1-inch screen, a Pentium II processor, and a full sized notebook keyboard despite being only just over an inch thick.
Dell is tightlipped on pricing and specific features for its offering, also due to ship in January. However, it is expected to include a 266MHz Intel Pentium processor with MMX and an 11.3-inch screen.
