Compaq has sparked a price war on the desktop front by bundling monitors with its Deskpro range.
That has prompted its competition to follow suit, said a representative at the IBM PC Co in the UK.
It will offer monitors with some of its range of desktops to match the Compaq offer.
Hewlett Packard is also to introduce a similar offer with its Vectra range.
The move is seen by industry observers as a response to determined competition from Compaq's arch-rival Dell.
