Storage firm Anobit has released its new solid state drive (SSD) technology to OEMs telling them that it will help lower costs while boosting performance.
The firm said that it had married the best components of competing technologies to produce its Genesis drives, and talked up the use of its own Memory Signal Processing (MSP) technology as the source of many of the gains.
According to Anobit, the new Genesis SSDs are the first multi-level cell solid state models to have enterprise/datacentre performance levels, and match the performance of SLC-based SSDs.
The use of the MSP technology has helped Anobit lift the performance of its drives considerably, allowing them to perform 50,000 read/write cycles, roughly 20 times as many as competing systems, the firm claimed.
"For too long, the high prices of SLC SSDs and concerns about MLC SSD endurance have slowed the adoption of Flash memory storage in the enterprise," said Anobit chief executive Ehud Weinstein.
"Anobit Genesis SSDs effectively neutralise both of these concerns. By delivering true enterprise-class SSD reliability at affordable MLC SSD prices, Anobit Genesis SSDs unlock the full promise of solid-state enterprise storage."
The firm said that it had solved the so-called 'Density-Cost-Latency-Endurance paradox' by combining the best parts of SLC SSDs and MLC Flash memory.
This combines the low latencies and high endurance of SLC-based SSDs with the low cost and high density of MLC-based SSDs, the firm said.
Anobit Genesis SSDs are available today for OEMs in 200GB and 400GB capacities.
