Wide area networking specialist Ascend has sold off its final non telecomms unit to an affiliate of a private equity management firm, Baker Capital.
Ascend inherited S2 Systems, developer of ecommerce software, when it acquired Stratus Computer last August, mainly for its telecomms business. Ascend immediately began selling off Stratus' non networking units, including software firms Tcam and Astria, plus Stratus' traditional fault tolerant interest.
