A genealogy website has proved that President George W Bush, Diana Princess of Wales and Winston Churchill were distant relatives.
Researchers at US-based MyFamily.com, which is publishing UK census records from 1841 to 1891 on the internet, have connected the trio to a 15th century English squire.
Henry Spencer, of Badby in Northamptonshire, who lived from 1420 to 1478, was married to Isabella Lincoln. One of their two sons, William, created the line that eventually produced Churchill and Diana Spencer.
The daughter of the other son, John, married Sir William Cope and the descendants of this line settled in the New World and created the Bush family line which ended up in Massachusetts during the 1600s.
President Bush has a bit of a fixation with Churchill and keeps a bust of him in the Oval Office.
