Oracle is to offer pre-packaged applications to small and medium businesses, under its Fast Forward programme, and plans to recruit resellers.
The software giant will bundle its financials and enterprise resource planning applications with consultancy and training. The programme, which is based on Oracle8 and aims to extend the new database's reach outside the large corporates, will initially be offered in the US. Availability in Europe will depend on its success, explained Ian Richardson, applied technology manager at Oracle UK.
It will be available to firms with annual revenues between $50 million and $500 million. The package will initially be sold by Oracle directly but there are plans to extend it to its reseller channel.
Fast Forward will be offered with Oracle Financials, which includes applications such as general ledger and receivables; and Enterprise Resource Planning, which features bill of materials and inventory. The package will be priced at $450,000 for a 20-user configuration, while a 60-user version costs $1.35 million. Customers may pay for additional training and consultancy during the life of the system.
