Black Box has bought Nottingham cabling and network installation company Datech Group for an undisclosed sum.
Black Box sells networking and cabling products, and services to users and resellers through its catalogue and major accounts telesales operation.
Paul Hudgell, managing director of Black Box, said the acquisition of Datech, which employs in excess of 100 field-engineers and consultants, will bolster the on-site services capabilities of Black Box.
He does not expect many situations when Black Box will bid for network integration contracts against its own resellers. "Resellers come to us for very specific parts of what we do. Our proposition to users tends to differ from that of our resellers," he said.
Datech is a profitable organisation with a turnover of about £8m, Hudgell added. The company's management will remain in place.
