IBM is to acquire Raid specialist, Mylex, for $240 million, only a day after it revealed it was reentering the market for high end enterprise disk storage systems with its new “Shark” family.
Mylex develops Raid adapters and external controllers for storage products, which will be included in IBM's existing hardware and software products. But the offerings will still be sold to Mylex distributors, Vars, system integrators and OEMs for Unix and Windows NT systems.
