Macromedia has released the new version of its Shockwave, Internet multimedia player.
Version 7.0 is designed to be invisible to the user, integrating seamlessly into Web sites. It will include an auto-update feature and live as a component instead of a browser plug-in so the user will not have to download Shockwave with each browser update.
The company said the new version will offload more of the processing power to the user?s computing, reducing the amount of bandwidth and server power needed to run Shockwave files.
