The government's Year 2000 initiative, Action 2000, has appointed Gwynneth Flower, formerly head of a training and enterprise council (Tec), to the #100,000 a year post of director. She will report to part time chief Don Cruickshank.
Ian Eddison, who has served as interim director since December, is said to be "evaluating his options".
Action 2000 is also expected to appoint three team leaders for media relations, advice and information development, to help businesses fight the millennium bug.
