Microsoft officially launched Internet Explorer 5 on Thursday, although early release versions of the new Web browser have been available for several months.
Microsoft claimed the upgrade will render Web pages faster than Netscape?s competing Communicator 4.5. New usability features include a Search Assistant, which enables users to perform searches that combine several search engines, and Autosearch, which enables them to type key words into the address bar and go straight to the appropriate Web site.
