ICL has signed a support agreement with Toshiba to handle Toshiba mobile PC repairs and customer service calls in the UK.
Under the agreement, ICL becomes an accredited, fully authorised support partner to Toshiba. Since ICL is a Toshiba reseller, the deal is designed to provide customers with a one-stop-shop service for sales and support.
As part of the agreement, ICL has invested in a Toshiba repair centre, based at Stevenage in Hertfordshire. The repair centre will house Toshiba-trained and accredited engineers. ICL already provides Toshiba and its end-users with a technical helpdesk in Warrington, which will be linked to the repair centre.
Anthony Willis, assistant general manager of Toshiba's PC division explained: "There is no doubt in my mind that the teams, from both sides, working to achieve the appropriate level of quality infrastructure demanded of our partners, have shown enormous commitment and professionalism."
Commenting on the way the IT industry has been accused of inflexibility, Willis said that the partnership marks a fundamental shift in the way vendors can work together to meet customer needs. "Toshiba and ICL have proven during the last few months that the aforementioned criticism is no longer valid and the partnership we have created will maintain, and even improve, the high level of satisfaction our users have come to expect from all of our partners," he said.
Peter Hutchinson, UK managing director of ICL's system service division said: "Consistent, quality service has increasingly become an integral component of a vendor's product strategy. Our relationship with Toshiba is a genuine partnership and is further confirmation of the growing strength of our relationships with leading IT vendors in the market."
