Lucent has acquired wireless network management provider, Watchmark, and plans to integrate it with its existing wireless performance management software unit. The combined force will be known as Watchmark Corp and will market a range of network management software to cellular operators. Watchmark develops tools for designing radio frequencies, mediating multivendor networks and decision support. Steve Roberts, Watchmark Corp's president and chief executive, said: "There has been explosive growth within the wireless industry over the past few years and our network decision support software provides the first quantum leap in addressing wireless carriers' traffic issues. Our software tools enable customers to maintain their network through the Web over their private networks."
