As VNU Newswire reported in June, Microsoft will release a third beta for Windows NT 5.0 before it launches the product, casting further doubts on when it will finally ship.
The Redmond-based company said the final release date for NT 5.0 has still not been set, as it released further details of its second beta program for Windows NT 5.0. It began shipping the beta yesterday to more than 45,000 technical sites, 25,000 channel partners, and 200,000 developers worldwide.
While the first beta has already been tested by more than 100,000 users, Microsoft said the second beta will allow it to test NT 5.0 in a wider range of scenarios. Once it has received and incorporated feedback from users, it wil release the third beta.
