AirMagnet touts improved Wi-Fi management
Firm claims faster overview of any network problems

AirMagnet has updated its Wi-Fi Analyzer Pro and Survey Pro tools, promising faster network surveys and more immediate insight into any problems.
Survey Pro 8 and Wi-Fi Analyzer Pro 9 use new multi-adapter technology to collect data from the network and incorporate it into software that can help staff make sense of what they see.
Dilip Advani, product manager at AirMagnet parent Fluke Networks, claimed that the updates offer better Wi-Fi management.
"With Wi-Fi deployments getting faster all the time due to the growth of 802.11n technologies and being increasingly used for mission-critical tools, IT staff want better information as soon as possible to help them manage the networks," he said.
Wi-Fi Analyzer Pro 9 includes a new dashboard that displays the top issues occurring on the network to give IT staff an immediate overview of what needs fixing.
"A lot of IT staff told us they want to be able to get to the bottom of problems as soon as possible, so we added this feature to show them what needs addressing, and what can be done to fix it, when they launch the application," Advani explained.
"They can then drill down into the information to see more about the issue, such as why calls are being dropped, where they started, where they roamed to and so on, to help them understand why issues are occurring."
Survey Pro 8 can now conduct active and passive surveys of Wi-Fi networks, enabling staff to halve the time it takes to carry out a complete survey of a network, according to AirMagnet.
"In the past the survey software could only support one adaptor, so staff had to go around the entire organisation twice to measure the network. But with the multi-adaptor technology they can halve the time, cost and effort of surveying, " said Advani.
Both products include support for the 64-bit version of Windows 7 to cover laptops running this system, along with 802.11a/b/g/n USB adapters.
The tools are available now costing $3,995 (£2,500) each.
