Sybase will start shipping version 6.0 of its Powerbuilder development tool later this month. The offering will enable users to write business logic as an ActiveX control or Corba component, which can be deployed on a middle tier. The next release of the product, which has no release dates as yet, will enable developers to generate Java Beans. Sybase is also evaluating whether to enable it to generate HTML clients that could run entirely in a browser.
