The Official Halo 2 Guide sold a whopping 270,000 copies on its first day on sale across North America to become one of the fastest-selling books of the decade, publishers Random House announced today.
The gamers strategy guide for the hotly anticipated Xbox game has clocked up Random House's biggest first day sales since Bill Clinton's My Life was released in June.
Licensed by Random House division Prima in an exclusive agreement with Microsoft, the game's publisher, the $16.99 guide went on sale simultaneously with the game as fans queued up all night for the release.
The guide offers more than 200 pages of strategies, tips and maps for players of the top Xbox game.
Debra Kempker, president and publisher at Prima said: "Halo 2 is revolutionary in the video game industry and we are thrilled to be part of its success."
