ComTel, one of the UK's largest cable operators, is to team up with @Home Network to roll out a UK version of @Home's high-speed cable modem Internet service. The service will be limited to ComTel's franchise, which doesn't include any areas in London. ComTel hopes to launch a full package by the first quarter next year in the Thames Valley and Oxford franchises initially, rolling out to other areas later. A full list of ComTel franchises can be found at www.comtel.co.uk/locations.html. Alex Zwissler, director of business development at ComTel, said the company will price the service competitively. He said the deal was not exclusive, which would leave room for other cable operators to offer a similar package.
