Internet service provider UUnet Pipex has set up a dedicated consulting arm to help organisations squeeze the most out of their Internet connections.
The company plans to target large corporates and smaller ISPs with a range of specially designed consultancy products - a managed service for controlled connections to the Net, a 24-hour support service and a quickstart service for start-up ISPs.
According to David Barrett of Pipex, the increasing demand for Internet consultancy services should double the revenues of the new arm in its first year.
The operation will be made up of three business units - a strategic services team to help users business re-engineer around the Internet; a technical services team providing systems and network integration, security implementation and configuration advice; and an online publishing group offering Intranet and Web design advice, domain name registration and database integration.
