Microsoft has confirmed that it will offer a patch disk to a few corporate customers after they complained that they wanted backwards compatibility with Word 6.0
David Bennie, product marketing manager at Microsoft UK, said: "When we shipped Office 97 a couple of corporate customers asked us to change the 'Save As' option from RTF into Word 6.0 format."
He said MS will deliver the patch in "the short term rather than the long term", and that the change is likely to be integrated in future versions of Office 97.
