Deutsche Telekom's first half figures for 1997 saw a 5.4 per cent revenue increase to DM29.4 billion (#9.8 million) but profits remained virtually unchanged at DM3.2 billion.
Meanwhile the German telecomms supplier announced a deal to purchase $30 million of products and services from Internet telephony specialist Vocaltec, as well as taking a 21 per cent stake in the US company.
The two companies are already trialling a small Internet telephony service for 1,000 users and this latest deal should drive further offerings from Deutsche Telekom.
