City telecomms operator, Colt, is now offering Internet services to the business community. Colt Internet will initially be rolled out in the UK, offering access speeds of 64Kbps and 2Mbps. The backbone will be based on ATM and synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH) technologies. The ATM portion will be supplied by Teleglobe in the US. This will give UK users access to Teleglobe's Globeinternet IP routing service in the US, while cutting through local congestion.
