Matsushita is working on a plasma screen television that it claims will be the biggest in the world.
The TV, which measures 2.4 metres by 1.4 metres, will be released later this year.
The high definition screen is bigger than a king-size bed and will weigh as much as an upright piano.
Matsushita's new record-breaking model is just 2cm larger than the current largest plasma television made by Samsung.
The company has not yet announced a price, but its 1.65-metre screen currently sells in Japan for $7,500 (£4,000).
