Oracle has developed FailSafe to ensure that its Parallel Server database can undertake failover in a Microsoft Windows NT-based clustering environment. While the first phase of Microsoft's Wolfpack offering, which deals with failover, will ensure that a second machine takes over if one goes down, FailSafe restarts the Oracle database and reconnects users to it. The product will be shipped as a free utility for Oracle Parallel Server 7.3 within a month of Wolfpack's release.
