Texas is the up and coming place to be for workers in the US hi-tech industry, according to the latest figures released by the American Electronics Association. The AEA found that at the end of 1995 there were currently four million people working in hi-tech industry sectors. The largest number - 669,349 people - work in California, but this figure has dropped 6.48 per cent since 1990. Over the same five year period, second ranked Texas gained 14.3 per cent to end 1995 on 313,460 jobs. New York State was in third place with 295,649 jobs.
