Solicitors are to get discounted electronic banking from NatWest bank under a new scheme announced last week at the Solicitors and Legal Office Exhibition. Solicitors will be eligible for savings of more than 40% on their electronic banking. Legal firms must sign up to a combined package of NatWest BankLine Cash Manager, Intra Day Update and Payment Manager to receive the discount. Instead of the normal price of #1,689 for the package, solicitors signing up to the scheme will be charged #999. The scheme is open until 28 August this year. "Banking activity for solicitors is concentrated at the end of the week or month," explained Susan Tavner, of Tavner and Co Solicitors. "In the past, this has inevitably led to delays in transmitting funds for time-critical transactions such as mortgages. This meant partners would spend valuable time on the phone to the bank and other lawyers." Solicitors wishing to participate in the scheme should contact their NatWest bank manager.
