The Object Management Group (OMG) appointed Richard Soley, former technical director, as chairman and chief executive, at its technical committee meeting in Dublin this week.
He replaces Chris Stone, who left to join Novell as senior vice president of strategy and corporate development earlier this summer. William Hoffman has also been appointed as president and chief operating officer, after undertaking the job on a temporary basis since Stone's departure.
The OMG also said that the Open Group is expected to release its suite for testing that software conforms to the Corba object standard in December. The Open Group will also provide branding and certification for compliant products at a later date.
