Azlan, one of Europe?s top distributors is strengthening its already close relationship with IBM.
Big Blue?s network computers will ship through Azlan?s reseller channels from April, and Christian Martin, chief executive of the UK-based networks and services distributor, says that Azlan has a pivotal role to play in developing this market for IBM.
He argued: ?NCs will have an a major impact on network infrastructures. Just over half of UK companies who have or are planning to install Intranets believe they will replace most of the of their networked PCs with NCs within five years."
Citing the Durlacher Internet Report 1997 and Gartner Group statistics on cost of ownership, Martin added:?It costs about #8,000 annually to own a business PC, including software upgrades and administrative services; the NC could reduce hardware, software and network management expenses by 50-75 per cent over traditional PCs.?
On the IBM relationship, Martin explained: ?Azlan was appointed as the first distributor to sell IBM networking products through the channel market two years ago... and we?ve built a new pan-European business for IBM.?
