Remedy has launched three additional Windows NT-based products to add to its flagship helpdesk product, Action Request System (ARS), which was ported to the operating system only 18 months ago.
The helpdesk supplier has traditionally focused on the Unix space, but now claims that it generated 20 per cent of its turnover from NT last year and expects this figure to grow substantially over the next few years.
Matt Miller, Remedy?s vice president of marketing, said: ?Since announcing our NT products, adoption has skyrocketed, so we?ve introduced three new products because more and more departmental systems are moving to the operating system. NT is out on the perimeter and people are not using it in the data centre for mission critical applications, but it works well for helpdesk solutions.?
The three new products all require ARS to run and include ARWeb, a module that enables users to access their helpdesk from a browser.
The product supports Microsoft?s and Netscape?s Internet servers and browsers, and can dynamically generate HTML forms from any ARS application. ARWeb is due later this quarter and will cost $15,000.
The second offering is a Distributed Server Option (DSO), which enables users to replicate their data held in Unix or NT-based databases to remote sites.
DSO enables users with more than one subsidiary to route requests to servers at specified times of day to certain or all locations, while using a minimum amount of network bandwidth. It started shipping this week, costing $12,000.
The third product, Remedy Mail Server for Microsoft Exchange, can be downloaded free from the firm?s Web site at www.Remedy.com. It enables ARS users to receive information, initiate queries to the ARS database and submit requests, from any Exchange client.
