Insiders in Europe told VNU Newswire tonight that a deal for Intel to take over Motorola's chip division is on the cards.
The source said that was strengthened by the new closeness between IBM and Intel, as previously reported here.
According to the insider, the deal made "perfect sense" for both Motorola and Intel.
Motorola, he said, was such a gigantic company that the loss of the Power PC family to Intel was "no loss at all".
Neither company was available for comment.
