The US Department of Justice has requested more information on Computer Associates? (CA?s) planned $3.5 billion acquisition of Platinum Technologies.
The high price of the deal, which was announced last month (see VNU Newswire, 30 March, 1999), was intended to knock out rival suitors, of which Andrew Filipowski, Platinum?s chairman and chief executive, said there were two.
The purchase would make CA a $6 billion organisation, of which $1 billion is generated by Platinum.
