IBM has updated its web server clustering technology with the latest release of Interactive Network Dispatcher, an application that manages traffic flow and balancing between web servers and the Internet. Version 1.2 provides failover functionality if one server goes down and can also manage memory usage on each server. The application means web server usage can be made more effective, cutting down the requirement to add additional servers or network bandwidth as traffic load increases.
The application runs on AIX, Solaris and Windows NT.
