This year's 3GSM show was the largest ever in terms of attendance, according to the final visitor tally.
Over 50,000 visitors converged on the Fira de Barcelona conference centre, making it the largest mobile industry trade show in the world.
Attendance on day one of the show in its new home was greater than the total attendance in 2005. 3GSM was held in Cannes for 13 years but was moved after it outgrew the site.
"Barcelona gives us a number of advantages," said Mike Short, chairman of the Mobile Data Association. "The exhibition space is large enough so that no-one gets turned down. Barcelona is also an airport hub which makes life easier for visitors."
A record 1,900 international web, paper and broadcast companies reported on the show this year, compared with 1,200 in 2005.
