Dataquest has published a profile on Oracle that ranks its support offerings as broader in scope and less expensive than those of other IT service providers, including SAP and Microsoft.
OracleLifecycle is the leading enterprise support programme in terms of broadest selection of offerings, the report said. It has a wider scope than Microsoft Premier, Informix Enterprise and Sybase Enterprise.
OracleLifecycle is a customised programme for users requiring proactive and on-going expertise from Oracle. Dataquest also rated OracleGOLD support as the leading premium services programme in terms of broadest selection of offerings at the lowest cost. It scored higher in scope and lower in cost than Microsoft Premier. In scope alone, it scored higher than Informix Regency and Sybase Extended. Dataquest also rated OracleSILVER and OracleBRONZE support as less expensive and broader in scope than the equivalent Microsoft and Baan services, and as having greater value than SAP and PeopleSoft.
Yvonne Jacklin, director of UK support services, said Oracle was pleased with Dataquest's endorsement: "While other software vendors are just now recognising that the cost and scope of support make a world of difference to the customer, the Dataquest report underscores that Oracle has understood this for some time," she said.
Oracle has been taking steps to shed its unfriendly image and Jacklin believes the Dataquest report provides justification of the progress made.
"We're business partners, not just vendors, and we're pleased that Dataquest has recognised our efforts," she concluded.
