Bill Gates is the personification of evil, according to a growing number of web sites devoted to spreading anti-Microsoft sentiments.
One of the sites, the MSBC Superlist (www.geocities.com/Silicon Valley/Pines/3334/super.html), even prides itself on providing the most comprehensive list of anti-Microsoft literature.
Most concentrate on Gates' wealth and the methods he has used to accumulate it. Virtually all of the sites ask readers to boycott Microsoft products or organisations Microsoft is involved with. A few of the sites try to evoke a hatred for Gates, with suggestions such as: "If you happen to see him on the street, spit at him with the utmost contempt."
While many of the sites set out to simply entertain, some people may find them lacking in taste in light of a recent threat to Gates life.
A fortnight ago the FBI arrested a 21-year-old man for threatening Gates' life in an attempt to extort more than $5 million (#3.1 million) from the Microsoft boss. Microsoft is now rumoured to have tightened security surrounding Gates.
