The US Justice Department said on Tuesday that it would review the proposed purchase of online content service Compuserve by telecomms company Worldcom, and its sell-on of part of the business to Compuserve competitor America Online. The review will look at possible antitrust implications.
While the review could delay the deal by up to six months, it is not expected to block it given the large number of other content providers on the Internet, a spokesperson for America Online said in response.
