UK video game retailer GAME is gearing up to deliver the first Xbox 360 to UK gamers at midnight on Thursday 1 December.
The retailer confirmed today that it will be opening its flagship Oxford Street store at midnight to sell the very first units of the highly anticipated console from Microsoft.
GAME said it is expecting hundreds of customers who have pre-ordered their Xbox 360s to queue up to collect them at midnight.
"We are anticipating huge crowds of customers will come to our Oxford Street store to get their hands on their Xbox 360 at the first possible moment," Anna Macario, the retailer's marketing director said.
Following the launch of the unit in the US this week, news of shortages of the console over the Christmas period is driving demand in the online auction space, with Xbox 360s cleaning up on eBay.
Many of the units available are being offered for more than double the recommended retail price, while some bidders are paying more than £500 to get their hands on a console before Christmas.
