StorageTek announced at the Supercomm show earlier this month that it has formed an internal data warehousing group in conjunction with FileTek.
The new group will develop data warehouse storage software based on FileTek's StorHouse data management software and StorageTek's Nearline tape and Openstorage disk storage systems. StorageTek initially has its eye on telecommunications companies for the data warehouse products, reasoning that, with deregulation in the industry, telcos need good data warehouse technology to keep track of - and analyse the needs of - their customers.
