Supermodel Cindy Crawford has got her own back on all the unofficial Web sites dedicated to her - by launching her own.
The business savvy model has opened up a test site, which will go live in the coming weeks. It is offering a special preview joining fee of $19.95, a 50 per cent reduction on the initial annual membership.
Membership will buy live chats with Cindy, a cindy.com CD-Rom, an autographed photo, screensavers, games and newsletters from Cindy as well as the chance to 'party online' with her when the site goes live. Part of the site will be in Japanese.
Crawford is one of the 10 most requested celebrity searches on the Internet. Over 100,000 listings come up on a search for her name. Although she appreciates the fans' unofficial sites she said it was time ?I had to put something authentic out there?.
Analysts believe more and more celebrities will launch pay-to-see Internet sites as they realise how much money there is to be made, without a huge amount of effort or overhead.
