AOL Time Warner has announced the appointment of Jonathan Miller as chief executive of its ailing America Online unit. The decision was expected by the industry.
The role at AOL may be something of a baptism by fire for Miller, as the division has experienced a lacklustre financial performance of late.
It is also undergoing an investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission regarding its accounting processes and its relationship with business software developer PurchasePro.
Miller, formerly of USA Interactive, ViaCom, the National Basketball Association and an ecommerce startup, will be responsible for all of AOL's businesses with immediate effect.
