The Pentium III and K6-3D battle was raised another notch today as it emerged Intel will launch its chip a week earlier than rival AMD's.
AMD however said today it will bring forward the introduction of its Sharptooth K6-3D processor to before Intel's launch.
Intel had originally intended to introduce the Pentium III (Katmai) at the end of the month but has brought the date forward to attempt to stymie AMD's introduction.
A source close to AMD's plans, said she couldn't give the exact date the K6 will launch but believed it will be before Intel's introduction, dubbed a "preview event".
