Oscar Jenkins is the brains behind the Uptime Group. Having left ISP Nethead nine months ago, he is back on the scene, aiming to take the Net ad industry in the UK by storm. "We're gonna become one of the biggest brokers in the world," he says of Uptime, a holding company for businesses dealing with online advertising, customer loyalty and reward schemes, and content management.
Uptime has created a scheme whereby Web surfers can earn rewards, including money paid into a "Web wallet". Sites that work with Uptime will also use software that identifies users and sends them targeted information from linked databases.
Sound complex? Fear not. Aussie-born Jenkins aims to persuade the ad industry that the future lies in Web ads via brokers like Uptime. "We're buying lots of Net ad space and will throw the shackles off traditional views." (www.uptimegroup.com).
So-called ghost galaxies aren't necessarily small but can be difficult to detect due to their very low star power
Ironically, solar panels installed in the colder north are the most affected by hot spots
The Mars Opportunity rover captured the images on its 5,000th day on the Red Planet
The galaxy is losing its hydrogen and the ability to form new stars
