Compaq's financing unit, Compaq Capital, is to acquire the leasing business of Dana Commercial Credit as part of a plan to expand the range of channel finance offerings.
In the US the company will begin inventory financing for resellers in the fourth quarter and asset based lending in Q1 of next year. It will also begin a partner programme for lending in conjunction with channel partners.
Compaq has been keen for some time to expand the payment options available to customers and the two companies have been working together since April 1997. No financial details were disclosed.
