Computer Associates is expected to announce within the next week plans to build a #100 million European headquarters in Slough.
The headquarters will house CA's European research and development team and coordinate policy across the region, although the structures of individual country subsidiaries will be retained.
CA is expected to create a "substantial" number of new jobs with the move and some 500 staff, already employed at the firm's sites in Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead, will be transferred there.
The software giant purchased the 37-acre site next to the M4 motorway from Calor Gas at the end of last year and intends to apply for planning permission from the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead next month.
If permission is granted, construction would start by the end of this year for completion by 1999. CA refused to comment on the move. - VNU NEWSWIRE.
