The financial toll of takeover frenzy has hit another telecomms equipment vendor, Lucent.
Lucent reported a net loss of $233 million in its third quarter on revenues of $7.2 billion.
The company felt the impact of $668 million worth of charges related to its acquisition of ATM access provider Yurie Systems, and GSM phone software developer, Optimay. A further $50 million covered restructuring costs.
The largest growth came from Lucent's business communications systems division, which sells to corporates. This increase was primarily from sales of the Definity Enterprise Communications Server to large businesses.
