Reports from the US suggest that Microsoft will continue to push its initiative to develop the Net PC by introducing a module which connects to a motherboard using the Firewire interface. The advantage of a system like this will be that machines can be easily expanded. The Firewire interface is a widely accepted standard which is also known as IEEE 1394. In theory, Firewire can support a multitude of devices including disk drives but storage manufacturers have still to develop products which will attach to such a subsystem.
