Madge Networks has entered the telecomms market for the first time with the launch of a line of ISDN switches. The products, called Edge Switching Node (ESN), allow carriers to offload ISDN traffic from central switches and expand their networks. There are two versions with 10 or 20 slots. Both support the Signaling System 7 protocol for communications between central switches, and can be shipped with an eight-port ISDN Basic Rate or a four-port T1/Primary Rate interface module.
